5 Ideas for an Entertaining Night In

Many people associate partying, dancing in clubs and eating out at restaurants as a great night out, and for good reason. But, it’s possible to have just as much of a good time staying in and doing fun activities at home, such as playing games like bingo, for example!

For other ideas besides that, you might need to get a bit creative, but there are many ways to keep entertained on an evening that could be even more amusing than a night out on the town.

5 ways to have a great night in

1. Host an international night

Armchair travel – or should we say, dinner-table travel – is a wonderful way to explore the world from the comfort of your own home. Whether you live with your family or housemates, you could write the names of interesting countries on pieces of paper and put them into a hat. Then, once a month (or however often you’d like to do it), you can pick a country and then create a themed evening around it. It’s a great way of celebrating other cultures and you can have a lot of fun with it.

It’s up to you how you and your companions spend your international night, but we’d recommend:

  • Cooking some local cuisine (try something that’s a bit out of your comfort zone for more of a challenge)
  • Dressing up in traditional clothes or finding amusing visual cues or props
  • Putting on some lively music (you could even listen to a cool local radio station)!

If you were to choose a country like Mexico, for example, you could all wear sombreros and eat arroz con pollo or tacos, while listening to mariachi music.

2. Do some creative DIY

While you’re at home, it can be a super way to make the most of your downtime by taking on some fun DIY projects. Whether it’s redecorating, making simple furniture or even learning how to fix things, this can be very productive, and is a great way to learn a new skill.

While we don’t necessarily recommend spending the whole night putting up shelves, cranking up the volume on the speakers and getting out the drill to hang up some pictures could turn into a surprisingly fun evening. If you have children, this could be the perfect opportunity to teach them new ways to do things, and how to be safe around DIY equipment. You’ll also have something to remember the night by as you sit back and admire your work!

3. Host your own online bingo night at home

Of course, as a bingo site, we’d highly recommend hosting your own games night. With the wonders of modern technology, you don’t all have to be in the same room (or even time zone) for it to work! There are so many ways you can do it too, whether it’s roping in your faraway cousins on Zoom, or just making your own cards and playing in person with a small group of people at home.

One of the main pointers is to get someone to be in charge of calling out the numbers and keeping track of them, as well as who all the winners are. However, you choose to host your event, the most important thing is to have fun!

If you’d like to play some online bingo games, you can factor this in too, with bingo chat games a great sociable option.

4. Take up a new hobby

We know that one of the most common ways to relax at home is to put on a movie or watch series, but how about stepping away from your screen and trying something new?

Whether you get excited by knitting, punch needling, painting, drawing, doing your nails or even crochet, there are so many ways to keep entertained – and learn a fun new activity at the same time! Who knows, you might even get so good at it that you can start to make things for your home or to send as gifts to family and friends. All you need to do is a bit of research, order in any materials you need, and watch some “how to videos”, and you’ll be away!

5. Have a scavenger hunt

If you like to have adventures and explore, but can’t go out, why not bring the thrill of new discoveries into your own home? You can do this by having a scavenger hunt, however you’d like to do it. This could involve hiding clues throughout the house, with a prize for the winner, or even setting up a theme around it.

Coming up with creative ideas to keep your housemates or family entertained could actually take up more than one evening, if you take in all the planning involved. However, you can also choose to keep it simple, and focus the scavenger hunt in a certain room or area of your house. If it were us, we might add in a bit of a pirate angle when it comes to scavenging for the final prize – or, as we like to call it, booty!

Spend an evening with Booty Bingo

Even hundreds of years after Blackbeard made a name for himself getting his hands on some loot, there’s still a lot that is cool and unusual about pirates, and of course, bingo!
